how do i remove the first line indent in word 2013

I've tried defining a custom paragraph style ('CustomStyle') in the Word template and then wrapping the relevant chunk in or, but that doesn't seem to work. And my footnotes left alignment looks like this: As you can see by the red line I added after taking screenschot, the alignment is all over the place, because I use 'Justify', and First line and Hanging indent are not set.
